Mels cheese specialities from the Mädris mountain cheese dairy

In the Mädris mountain cheese dairy, silage-free mountain milk, the untreated raw milk from the cows of five mountain farming families, is refined into high-quality dairy products. The unadulterated Melser mountain cheese and other specialities mature in the cheese cellar and cold store.

Their flavour is unique, which the fragrant mountain hay in the winter months and the juicy herbs in spring bring to the dairy products. Our Bergheimet and Maiensässe are located on the mountain flank on the Melser Hinterberg at an altitude of 800-1200 metres. The Chapfensee nature reserve is also embedded in this habitat.

Our Brown Swiss cows spend the summer as if they were on holiday, grazing on one of the many alpine pastures in the municipality of Mels: the Kohlschlag, Mädems or Kloster, Siez and Walabütz cowsheds are a worthwhile excursion destination in any weather - and the young alpine cheeses are a delight.

Cheese dairy visit for groups (winter)

We are happy to offer groups an unforgettable tour of our mountain cheese dairy.
Offer from mid-October to the end of May (other times only without cheese production).
