Exhibition "BergeBeben - BergeStürzen"

The exhibition "BergeBeben - BergeStürzen" in the mountain village of Vättis explores the past and present earthquakes and landslides in the World Heritage cantons of Grisons, St. Gallen and Glarus.

Earthquakes and rockfalls occur regularly in the Sardona World Heritage region. They are important signs that mountain building is far from complete. The Alps are in constant motion. They are uplifted and eroded by millimeters every year. The smallest earth movements can be experienced live in the exhibition in Vättis by means of a seismograph. Of all the known landslides in Switzerland, the four largest occurred in the Sardona World Heritage region. The exhibition impressively shows the destruction and suffering caused by the rockfalls around the Tectonic Arena Sardona. On the other hand, such natural events are constantly reshaping our landscape, creating new habitats for plants and animals.
