museumbickel
A place for contemporary art
The museumbickel in Walenstadt was established in 2002 and is supported by the Karl Bickel foundation. Three to four exhibitions per year are held. Interesting contemporary art from Switzerland and its neighbouring countries is shown, and also works from local artists are regularly highlighted. One exhibition a year is dedicated to the work of Karl Bickel.
With its independent programme and numerous, stimulating escorted events, such as guided tours, concerts and panel discussions, the Bickel museum has become an important scene of art events in the region.
The museum, with its exhibition hall of almost unchanged industrial architecture from the beginning of the 20th century, is impressive. The pillar-free hall of 400 m2 fulfills all the basic requirements for displaying art: time and space, peace and quiet, and good light.
Group visits and guided tours on request also outside opening hours.
