Wangs
Wangs is conveniently located on the A4/A13 motorway and provides access to skiing and hiking destinations as well as the wine-growing community of Fläsch. The Pfarrer Künzle Trail offers an easy themed circular hike with informative panels and sculptures.
Wangs enjoys a particularly advantageous location. To the north, the municipality borders the A4/A13 Sargans highway junction, to the west the largest municipality in the canton in terms of area, namely Mels, and to the east the international spa resort of Bad Ragaz. To the south, the well-known skiing and hiking destination of Wangs-Pizol is located on its own municipal territory, while the wine-growing community of Fläsch borders Wangs to the east. A unique landscape with meadows and farmland, pastures, forest and Alps offers a varied landscape. The villages of Vilters and Wangs stand on cones of debris and owe their location to their village streams. The unique Rheinau river landscape with its nearby ponds, meadows and forests is an important local recreation area. Another highlight in Wangs is the Pfarrer Künzle Weg. Here, visitors follow in the footsteps of Pastor Johannes Künzle. The rustic, uncomplicated priest and herbalist lived in Wangs from 1909 to 1920 and was granted honorary citizenship in 1912. The trail can be visited individually. Guided tours are also offered on a regular basis, which you can join. This easy themed circular walk at the foot of the Pizol offers something for everyone. Informative herb and biography boards, wooden sculptures and two original Künzle caves can be found along the way from Wangs to Vilters and back.
